had not been

Apostolic

What
does it mean
that the
Church is to
be apostolic?
Apostolic is
based on the
Greek word
apostolos
(apo, "from,"
stello, to
send");
the act of
sending
another forth
on special
appointment to
represent
oneself;
a delegate,
one sent with
full power of
attorney to
act in the
place of
another,
the sender
remaining
behind to back
up the one
sent.
Apostolic
means God
sends one to
do what He,
Himself would
do if He went.
The Greek term
apostolos
is used 81
times in the
scriptures.
(translates as
“apostle” 78
times;
as “messenger”
2 times [
2Cor. 8:33;
Phil. 2:25]
and once as
“he that is
sent” [John
13:16]
"Apostolic" is
a word of
divine origin.
It is Spirit
breathed and
inspired to
refer to
everything
that pertains
to Jesus
Christ, the
Anointed One,
the Apostle,
sent to earth
to demonstrate
God's absolute
sovereignty
and His
inescapable
Presence.
